Home     Armenian sports union of hearing impaired was founded and registered in April 2000. It is symbolic, that the new organization, intended to resurrect the sport of the hearing impaired in the country, was created precisely in spring, into the season of revival and blossom of nature. This year we celebrate the five-year anniversary of ASUD the first serious date in the history of our organization. During this short period, we managed to do quite a significant job. The number of ASUD members grew from 8 to 42 people, almost all them being acting athletes. Our organization became the equal member of international surdlimpic family, having joined the international committee of the sport of the hearing impaired (earlier – ICSD) and the European Sports Organization of the Hearing impaired (ESOD). Armenian athletes made a debut on the surdlimpic games, acquiring their first experience in participation in the World and Europe championships, and earning their first international rewards. There are also numerous achievements at internal level. Championships on wrestling and table tennis were carried out in Armenia. The restoration of the private universal sports hall of the Armenian sport of hearing impaired has been completed. Collaboration with the state committee of physical culture and sport under the rule of the RA Government, the national Olympic committee and the Armenian society of hearing impaired has been initiated. The management of ASUD is not going to stop on the mentioned achievement. Our organization has serious plans, directed toward the comprehensive development of sport and physical culture among the Armenians with hearing impairment, the wide spread of surdlimpic values and the idea of the healthy life-style, as well as integration of our hearing impaired athletes into the international sport association of hearing impaired. I hope that coming years of ASUD will be as interesting, saturated and fruitful, as the last five have been!
